Advertised Vacancy Number IPS/SS894096Appointment PoolKent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Workplace Learning and Vocational Education and Training Support Officer (WLSO) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.The role of the WLSO is to support the operations of the school’s Workplace Learning/VET (Vocational Education and Training) program, including developing and maintaining program documentation, support material and procedures manual.The WLSO will assist in the selection and induction of students in the Workplace Learning/VET program and locate appropriate industry placements for them.The suitable applicants will liaise with key stakeholders, including school personnel, Registered Training Organisation’s (RTOs), industry and parents and students, on attendance/behavioural issues or queries regarding the Workplace Learning and VET program.They may visit and monitor students on work placement, including checking student logbooks for satisfactory completion and working hours.The suitable applicants will ideally possess strong organisation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility, motivation and experience in providing administrative support would be highly advantageous to this role.Kent Street SHS is proud to be an Independent Public School located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, some who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs or reside at the Rotary Residential College located on-site. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area, with the ultimate aim that Kent Street SHS becomes their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria): Knowledge and understanding of workplace learning outcomes and contexts with the ability to induct employers, staff and students on workplace learning procedures.Experience in developing, implementing, evaluating and reporting on suitable programs for students in acquiring work skills and/or accessing recreational activities.Well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.Sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, employers and parents.Initiative and sound organisational skills, including the ability to plan and coordinate activities.
