The Reproductive Services Unit (RSU) provides a comprehensive service for people requiring assistance, support or treatment for infertility and potential infertility. Within RSU is the IVF Laboratory where we offer assistance with:

  • Investigation of infertility
  • Treatment to resolve conditions which affect fertility
  • Assistance for people to achieve a pregnancy through IVF, artificial insemination, donor insemination and ovulation induction
  • Protecting fertility prior to treatments which may damage fertility, such as chemotherapy

The Laboratory lies at the crux of the suite of services that RSU provides to its patients.

Your contribution

As the Laboratory Manager you will oversee and direct all the technical and administrative operation of the IVF laboratory regarding the collection, inspection, manipulation, processing of human oocytes, sperm and embryos and other related aspects of IVF. You will also undertake and/or supervise the conduct of research projects as related to the laboratory aspects of IVF.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Manage all technical and operational activity of the laboratory services
  • Lead and inspire the laboratory team
  • Review and update laboratory methodology, policies, protocols and procedures
  • Maintain Laboratory Quality Systems to fulfil requirements of ISO9001 and RTAC Code of Practice.

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience, utilising advanced and specialised professional knowledge and experience in clinical embryology; thorough knowledge of tissue culture, assisted reproductive technologies and relevant andrology procedures
  • Experience leading a team in a medical laboratory (desirable)
