We provide comprehensive on-the-job training, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge needed to excel. What does a Dental Assistant do? Dental Assistant’s are an integral part of the team at any Dental office. A Dental Assistant works closely with patients and colleagues everyday and strives towards providing a positive experience for all. As a Trainee Dental Assistant, you’ll study dentistry techniques and perform general office duties, including a range of patient care and laboratory duties You will be working full time 38 hours per week while studying a Certificate III in Dental Assisting If successful, you will be gaining experience in the workplace with one of our host employers. Traineeship duration: 12 months (Important – if you have completed a Certificate III or higher since leaving school you may not be eligible for this traineeship) Duties may include but not limited to: Greet patients and prepare them for treatment Mix materials for fillings; sterilise and prepare instruments Arrange and hand instruments, medication and dental materials to practitioners Prepare dental materials and develop x-rays Use suction devices and water sprays Perform routine maintenance on equipment May advise patients on dental health education and post-operative care May act as receptionist for dental practitioners, perform billing and other clerical tasks.
