Harvey Norman is one of Australia’s most iconic retail brands and the Harvey Norman Online Franchisee provides the online and digital offering for the Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne brands across Australia. The Harvey Norman Online Franchisee is the single largest independent Franchisee Business in Australia and the successful candidate will leverage their extensive skills and financial experience to analyse profitability and business performance and identify areas for revenue growth and profitability. Reporting to the Director of Harvey Norman Online, an independent Harvey Norman Franchisee Business, the Financial Controller will contribute to the success of the Harvey Norman Online Franchisee Business by taking responsibility of the management of all accounting and financial reporting operations, including transactional functions such as invoicing, payables and receivable As a Financial Controller you will lead the Finance and Administration teams of the Online Franchisee and will liaise with Accounting Management of the Franchisor to ensure that the financial records and financial reports of the Online Franchisee are complete, accurate and prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards. The Financial Controller will be a key member of the Online Management Team and will provide financial and operational data and insights to the other Leadership Teams to assist in informed decision making. The Financial Controller will be instrumental in providing financial analysis and accounting guidance to the Leadership Teams to assess profitability and suggest improvements to enhance financial performance. Responsibilities: Preparation and ownership of all month-end reporting obligations including profit & loss management, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Preparation of monthly BAS and Payroll Tax return and annual FBT return and liaison with the external accounting / tax service provider to ensure compliance. Ensuring effective cash flow management and undertake budgeting, forecasting and planning activities in partnership with the Director. Ensuring the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and that the recording keeping meets all financial requirements. Liaise with the Accounting department of the Franchisor to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting. Producing timely and high quality monthly financial reports and analysis and identify areas of improvement to support decision making. Overseeing and management of monthly supplier statements reconciliation. Liaison with external payroll processing provider for weekly and monthly payroll for employees. Reviewing existing processes and procedures to ensure sound internal controls and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and controls across the business. Provide financial analysis, operational data and financial insights to the other Leadership Teams to assist in informed decision making. Analysis of profitability of each business unit / segment to analyse financial performance, identify areas for improvement and suggest process or business changes to grow revenues and enhance profitability About You: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a chartered accounting firm and/or medium to large commercial organisation (retail industry is preferred but not essential) A minimum of 5 years’ relevant post CPA or CA qualification experience Experience in financial processes and accounting transactions of an ecommerce business Experience / exposure using Magento, SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC Accounting, Business or Commerce degree CPA or CA Qualification Excellent excel skills Strong ability to write financial reports and analytical commentary Strong and effective communication skills – written and verbal Time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritise  Please note that only people with the right to work in Australia should apply for this position.
