Contaminated Lands – Team Lead - ( 230000T7 ) Description About the role Our established Northern NSW Environmental Team is looking for a Contaminated Lands – Team Lead with urban and land development experience to lead the community development team of environmental scientists / engineers in our Newcastle office. Joining a growing team with an exciting future, you’ll manage project teams and provide accurate and efficient technical solutions in accordance with project timelines and budgets. You will also be a leading role in maintaining our existing client base, exploring new opportunities and ensuring technical excellence from our geotechnical engineering team. You will mentor and support staff, to ensure the right balance of skills within the team, fostering a high level of commitment, open communication and team cohesion. Day to day tasks would involve: Deliver contaminated land services in accordance with client expectation, project schedule and budgets. Provide effective input into the assessment and management of the technical aspects and human and environmental impacts of the ongoing management and remediation of contaminated land sites including former landfills. Scope and design contaminated land and groundwater investigations. Prepare and/or review proposals, reports and management plans within given timeframes. Support the Business / Group Leader with monitoring and reporting on the performance of the business unit. Ensure allocated projects and proposals are planned, programmed and appropriately managed to meet or exceed client expectations. Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships. Develops a presence in the market with reputation and client relationships to help position for future work. Coordinate resource and technical development requirements with Practice Leaders, Technical Discipline Leaders and other Team Leaders based both locally and in other Australian Offices. Lead and/or review proposals for pricing, approach and methodology, variation estimates and submission documents, and review and evaluate subconsultant tender response submissions to ensure they are suitable. Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships. Qualifications To be successful for this role you'll need: Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Chemistry or related field. Established technical knowledge coupled with industry project experience in contaminated land and remediation technologies. Minimum of 7 years demonstrated land contaminated experience ideally in the consulting industry. Relevant registration and professional accreditations (CEnvP not required but preferred) Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards Team leadership and mentoring experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Interest in working on a broad variety of projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with the team, managers and clients. Committed to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
