Our purpose is to influence and support the safety, development and empowerment of children, young people, adults and communities.  About the Role CareSouth is seeking casual Support Workers to provide individualised 24/7 support for young people living in our residential program. Our young people come from a background of trauma and we are looking for people who will work with their strengths to see them thrive. Could it be you? The overall responsibilities of the Support Worker are to promote a consistent and considered person-centred approach to the direct care of young people who reside in residential care, ensuring individual needs are met. Support Workers provide emotional support and crisis intervention, maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, and encourage young people to develop their social and living skills.  Additional duties include undertaking household and daily general duties, participating in regular team and organisational meetings and training. You will be a person who can uphold our values, exercises patience and resilience and exhibits a very nurturing demeanour. We are looking for individuals who place children first and are motivated to do what is best for them.  A typical day in the life of an Support Worker could include: Building and developing independent living skills Assisting with household duties Encouraging achievement of goals Transporting young people to and from appointments Daily care and support Assist with engagement in education & extracurricular activities such as sport or art Supporting connection to family & culture Utilising support from internal & external specialist services such as Speech Therapists & Behaviour Support Practitioners We are looking for individuals who fulfil the following criteria: Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability. Qualifications in Residential Care, a Certificate IV in Community Services, Welfare or other related areas. (You may be currently undertaking and/or willing to obtain within the first 12 months of employment) Current First Aid Certificate Demonstrated ability to deliver services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma on behaviour and development of children and adults. Understanding of or experience in implementing therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies. A positive attitude to engaging with children and young people in a nurturing environment under a therapeutic model. Demonstrated experience in being able to manage duties associated with home management. The ability to work independently and under limited supervision. Contribute to the effective operation of the team by supporting colleagues through clear and effective communication, sharing of appropriate and relevant information and working cooperatively with others. Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers. Do you want to be a part of something great?
