Seeking a Swimming Instructor who is passionate about all thing's health and fitness. What you'll be doing: To enhance the aquatic opportunities of Hume City Council Residents by effectively and efficiently carrying out the tasks necessary to maintain the Learn to Swim area of Hume Leisure Centres. To provide high levels of Customer Service to both internal and external customers at all levels, whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity. Conduct swimming classes in an efficient and responsive manner with the aim being to offer the highest standards on instruction. Perform work in accordance with the Centre Operation Plan, Program Area Operations Manuals, Work Instructions and Work Plan. Carry out the highest standards of class supervision and safety for the duration of the class. To continually maintain and upgrade knowledge with a view to providing the highest standards of education. Responsible to provide instructions to customers with a view to them achieving proficiency in swimming and related water skills at their level. Responsible for setting up necessary lesson equipment and packing away on conclusion of lessons. Responsible to commence and finish classes according to the rostered schedule. To comply with administrative procedures To continuously review and adjust the grading of class participants to ensure continuity of progression through the Swim and Survive system. Provide positive feedback and encouragement to all staff and visitors. Demonstrate pride and ownership in the presentation of the centre and the services offered. Act as Area Warden in the case of emergency situation/evacuation. Engage in open communication and encourage and acknowledge achievement. The skills and experience you'll bring to the role: The ability to effectively impart their knowledge of water education skills to participants. The ability to appropriately and effectively perform and demonstrate water education skills. Ability to formulate and administer lesson plans to achieve effective well organised classes. Time management skills required for service delivery. Understanding of principles of Occupational Health & Safety as they relate to their workplace. Required Certifications & Qualifications: Austswim Certificate. Level 2 First Aid Certificate including current CPR Certificate. Demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service. Desirable Austswim Certificate. Austswim Infant Aquatics Certificate. Austswim Teaching of People with Disabilities Certificate. Pool Lifeguard Award. Previous relevant experience with children's programs. Driver's Licence. Why Hume City Council?
