The Group is a leader in sustainable public transport as the operator of Australia’s largest zero emission bus fleet and Australia’s largest electrified bus depot.  Kelsian directly employs over 11,000 people and operates over 4,800 buses, 113 vessels and 24 light rail vehicles that delivered around 275 million customer journeys over the last year.   RiverCity Ferries is a subsidiary of Kelsian Group Limited, contracted to operate and maintain the Brisbane City Council’s Ferry fleet with associated infrastructure.  The network of 26 terminals is serviced by 30 vessels over a 20km stretch of the Brisbane River, moving over 5 million passengers a year.  A Maintenance Facility at Rivergate Marina, together with an Operation Base at Hawthorne form the primary places maintenance is performed.   About You To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in safety leadership role with a minimum tertiary qualification in WHS, working knowledge of ISO accredited systems (9001, 14001, 45001) backed by expert knowledge of contemporary safety knowledge and best practice, and the statutory and regulatory framework in workplace legislation. Previous experience in the transportation and/or marine industry an advantage.   Excellent interpersonal skills for training employees on procedures and strategies, your ability to identify hazards and control risks in the workplace and high-level documentation skills for the recording, investigation, and reporting of safety performance will be essential in continuously developing the HSEQ and Vessel Safety Management Systems.   With an ability to work in a team environment or autonomously and strong leadership and managerial skills will ensure the efficient and ethical performance of your health and safety team.   About the Role   The requirements listed above will be complimented by experience which ensures success in the following key functions of the position: Maintaining and continually improving the HSEQ Manager System and Vessel Safety Management Systems Assisting the General Manager to promote a culture of safety awareness, injury and incident prevention Promoting a safe working environment and the ongoing development of risk management processes Continually improving Management and Employee education and awareness Monitoring HSEQ training needs, marine safety training and the completion of training and drills Monitoring changes and amendments to legislation and updating systems accordingly Managing hazard and incident reporting and monitoring the close out and effectiveness of Actions Coordinating workers compensation and return to work policies and procedures. Conducting effective Incident Investigations to determine contributing factors and root cause analysis Conducting vessel and workplace inspections, risk assessments and audits Analysing trends in HSEQ performance and making recommendations to management for improvement This role reports to the General Manager, RiverCity Ferries and as part of the leadership team, you will need to work within a team environment to manage risk and ensure contract and regulatory compliance at all times.   As the business operates 365 days a year, flexibility and availability outside normal business hours may be required.   Please provide your resume and a cover letter explaining why you are the best person for this position.
