About the role: Are you highly passionate about working in a space with students and providing high quality care and support to both students and teachers? Are you capable of working in a classroom setting with vulnerable secondary aged students as this school is a specialist school? The role is Monday - Friday, 33 hours per week with a start time of 8:45am and a finish time of 3:30pm . Our organisation is focused on providing support and mentoring to the successful trainees as well as providing on the job training for 12 months. We have additional benefits that may be of interest to you such as: Earn and learn in your own pace On the job training provided Gain a Nationally recognised qualification: Certificate III in Education Support Mentoring and support provided from our dedicated team About you: Ability to follow instructions from teachers as well as use initiative Compassionate, caring and patient Capable of providing physical and emotional support to students Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident Willing to attend RTO/TAFE training located in Deer Park during school holidays Valid Victorian Working with Children Check Able to commit to a 12 month Traineeship Can NOT have completed a Certificate III or Higher in Education Support in the last 7 years What you will do: Work with teachers and other teacher aides as part of a team delivering educational programs to students. Communicate with students in the delivery of educational programs and assisting communications between students and teachers (for example, PECS program). Support teachers with the implementation of student programs and daily routines. Support teachers by providing a consistent approach to learning and behaviour management. Observe students and share observations with teachers. Under the direction of the teacher, assist with communications between school, parents/carers and the wider school community. Provide supervision to students in classroom setting as well as playground and other school programs Provide personal care to student wellbeing Prepare and maintain classroom environment Produce teaching and learning resources In return, you can enjoy: Wrap around support and mentoring Opportunity to build a career path Friendly and safe work environment Located in Lalor, VIC.
