About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate with a background in Microbiology or Biotechnology reporting through to the Senior Research Associate - Laboratory to join our team. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic research environment, collaborating with scientists to conduct screening of fungal samples. The ideal candidate will have experience with microbiology techniques and laboratory research. Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including preparation, isolation, identification, characterisation of micro-organisms, functional characterisation of microbial strains with an array of laboratory assays etc following good laboratory practices. Assist in the screening of fungal strains to drive product development in the laboratory, growth chambers and greenhouse Independently carry out experiments. Collect, analyse, and interpret data and prepare technical reports. Investigate and resolve technical challenges in the laboratory. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensure their proper usage, and keep accurate records of laboratory work. Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and assist with other laboratory duties as required. Requirements Bachelor's or honours degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field. Experience in microbiology techniques including isolation, cultivation, and identification. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and precise records. Proficient computer skills and basic statistics.
