South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Service (SESLHD MHS) is looking for a dynamic, creative and motivated individual for a temporary full-time position as a Nurse Educator (Grade 2) working within our Workplace Capabilities team. We are seeking an experienced and innovative Registered Nurse/Nurse Educator to join and help lead our team as a clinical leader within SESLHD Mental Health Service - Working in Mental Health has never been more important or meaningful! This role will provide high level education development, evaluation and support to Clinical Nurse Educators and clinical staff across the District and will be responsible for providing clinical education and mentorship to our existing and expanding nursing and multi-disciplinary workforce across the service, ensuring education programs are developed and delivered that promote best practice with a focus on strengths and recovery. The Nurse Educator is responsible for the efficient and effective provision and evaluation of education, training and professional development for the new and existing staff. The Nurse Educator Mental Health Workplace Capabilities will lead skill development in coaching, clinical supervision and leadership with a strong focus on a recovery oriented practice, trauma-informed care,  supported decision making and collaborations with carers, service users and service providers. The position will be responsible for engaging with staff, carers, patients and consumers to facilitate, support and evaluate practice change related to patient care, fostering excellence in clinical, educational and professional leadership. The incumbent will drive the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of education and professional development programs pertaining to contemporary models of mental and physical health care and patient safety. The position will also support frontline staff to develop, test and implement a range of targeted, service focussed improvement strategies and interventions to systematically reduce harm experience by people receiving care from mental health services in SESLHD. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.  A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements. In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant. Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position. Demonstrated experience providing clinical teaching and education to clinicians using adult learning principles and facilitation skills. Holding post registration clinical/education qualifications relevant to the position, with extensive relevant experience in mental health and physical health. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving and decision-making skills in relation to managing responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs to enhance a high standard of care and collaboration with carers, service users and services providers. Demonstrated sound organisational skills and the ability to be resourceful, proactive and flexible to successfully manage competing issues and deadlines. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education. Experience working with the practice development principles, including experience in facilitation of group education.
