Strategic governance leadership role Expand and develop in a purpose-driven team Aboriginal health-based, regional organisation in Mildura About the organisation Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is north-west Victoria's leading service provider for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The organisation is a proud Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people, by providing social support and primary health services and the necessary leadership and co-operative spirit to break down barriers between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across the Mallee region. About the role Reporting to the Chair, the Company Secretary will lead the company secretarial function. This includes facilitating the smooth and effective operation of MDAS’s Board and committees and acting as the interface with management in the preparation and delivery of matters for the Board and related committees. Critical to success in this role is the accurate and timely fulfilment of compliance and reporting requirements. The appointee will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards in preparing for and coordinating all Board and committee meetings. In addition to ensuring the relevance of key corporate governance documentation, the role includes monitoring and providing details on corporate governance developments and supporting MDAS’s risk management program. About you With a strong interest in company secretariat and governance matters, you have at least three years’ practical company secretarial experience in a non-for-profit or non-government organisation. Ideally, you are tertiary educated in the legal, governance or the company secretarial field. You are an intelligent professional, who is driven and motivated, and can demonstrate strong leadership and outstanding organisational capabilities. Your highly developed people and interpersonal skills underpin your ability to influence and quickly gain the trust and confidence of Board and executive team members, and guide staff and other key stakeholders. A clear communicator who writes well, you use initiative and apply high levels of judgement, attention to detail and accuracy to manage competing priorities.
