Role : The Student Engagement Officer serves as an inspirational and positive role model for our students. They are dedicated to fostering a supportive and lively educational environment, enhancing student well-being, and promoting active participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.

The Student Engagement Officer will:

  • Student Mentoring: Act as a positive role model for students, demonstrating enthusiasm, respect, and cultural awareness.
  • Reading Support: Conduct one-on-one and small group reading sessions in the classroom, helping to improve literacy skills and foster a love for reading, especially for those without a regular home reading habit
  • Curriculum Assistance: Provide support in small group settings as needed, aiding in the comprehension and engagement with the curriculum, especially for those not engaged in the curriculum on a regular basis
  • Sports Coordination: Organise and lead active recess and lunchtime sports activities, targeting sports popular in the FPS community, such as basketball and soccer. Focus on enhancing students' skill levels, physical fitness, community spirit, and understanding of the games.
  • Wellbeing Support: Offer targeted support to students in need through small group withdrawal sessions, under the supervision of the Wellbeing Leading Teacher. Focus on establishing a safe, fun, and trusting connection with school staff, addressing emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Physical Education Assistance: Support specific areas of the physical education program, including training for events like Hooptime, under the supervision of the PE teacher.
  • Communication Support: Engage with students to assist in understanding basic tasks and information, ensuring clarity and comprehension.
  • Classroom Supervision: Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or small groups of up to four students, either within the classroom setting or under the supervision of a teacher.

This role is vital in creating an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing environment for our students, encouraging their overall development and fostering a strong sense of community within the school.

Student Engagement Officer reports directly to the Principal, in consultation with the Wellbeing Leading Teacher and Assistant Principal
