ABOUT THE ROLE As a part of the Product & Technology team you will play a key role in guiding and providing technical development skills within ABC's Web Development team, to efficiently develop, maintain and support new and existing audience facing digital web-based products in line with ABC strategy and objectives. You will support the engineering leadership team by advocating best practice development to team members and ensuring continuous improvement. This position is primarily utilising front end technologies (React) with the chance to learn or brush up your Typescript skills. You will also get a chance to work with Node.js, if you’re more a full stack developer. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide advanced technical development skills within ABC Digital Product’s Engineering team, to develop high performance, secure and accessible digital products efficiently across desktop, mobile and potentially other device groups. Under the broad direction of the Technical Lead, contribute to the analysis, design and development of complex, re-usable components, and functionality for a broad range of uses. Maintain a high level of awareness of best practice in the industry for web development, particularly in areas such as performance, security, SEO, and accessibility; and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Continually improve the quality of output and maintain the integrity of professional documentation. ABOUT YOU  Outstanding front-end (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) skills, with demonstrated experience developing very complex, accessible (WCAG 2.0), secure and high-performance user interfaces for a range of platforms and devices at scale. Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience in using modern frameworks and build tools, implementing automated/unit testing, and version control branching, merging and versioning strategies. Experience with at least one server-side language (preferably Node) is an advantage. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to foster open and creative relationships within and across teams. Excellent planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise projects and tasks, and investigate, diagnose, and solve complex technical problems.
