The IT team is not just looking for a Senior Systems Administrator but are keen to take on a potential leader who's eager to shape the future of the company’s IT systems. Key Responsibilities of the role •Oversee server administration, security remediations, patching, and capacity planning to maintain peak performance. •Engage with Level 2 and Level 3 teams for effective troubleshooting and technical support. •Lead audits, plan upgrades, and stay ahead of system maintenance needs. •Ensure systems and network integrity, and regularly evaluate performance. •Plan for the future by assessing network, server, and storage needs, and consider migrations to newer versions. •Efficiently tackle incidents, outages, and performance issues and documenting. •Maintain meticulous records of system configurations, changes, assets, and inventory. •Uphold and promote organizational policies, fostering trust and respect. Required Experience and Qualifications •Hold a tertiary degree in IT or a relevant field. •Proficient in Linux server administration with a minimum of 3 years as a Senior Systems Engineer in a mid-sized organisation. •Demonstrated familiarity with ITIL-based ticket systems (ITIL V3 or V4 is a plus) •Experience in managing system patching, upgrades, and maintenance. •Well-versed in data centre infrastructure and network troubleshooting. •Knowledgeable in VMware vSphere administration. •Strong skills in hardware and software troubleshooting, error resolution, and documentation. •Understanding of SAN and NAS Storage administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. •Scripting and automation skills with Python, PowerShell, and Bash. •Proven ability to complete projects, prioritize effectively, and assess and escalate issues as needed. •Strong knowledge of systems and network security. •Skilled in capacity planning for future network, server, and storage needs. •Willingness to work outside regular business hours when the situation demands.
