Full-time Ongoing Role - With Monthly RDO Band 8 Salary range between $105,550 - $117,192 plus superannuation Located at the Art Gallery of Ballarat The Art Gallery of Ballarat is Australia’s oldest, largest and most engaging regional gallery. The Gallery is home to a nationally significant collection of over 11,500 artworks and hosts more than 30 exhibitions and 200 public programs and events each year. In 2023, the Gallery achieved over 40% growth in visitation and it is a key driver of cultural tourism to the Ballarat region as well as much loved local icon. The Art Gallery of Ballarat is in an exciting period of change and growth. We are looking for a dynamic, creative and results focused individual to lead the Gallery’s curatorial team, exhibition program and collection development and management. This new role sits as part of the Gallery leadership team and contributes to the overall management and strategic direction of the Gallery. Only an hour and a half from Melbourne, Ballarat presents the wonderful lifestyle benefits of a city in a beautiful regional setting, including a strong artistic community, an exciting food and wine scene and high-quality schooling options.Key Selection Criteria: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Art History, Curatorial or Museum Studies or substantial experience in other relevant specialist areas. Extensive understanding of international and Australian historical and contemporary art Experience working at a senior level in a public gallery, in leading, curating and managing an exhibition program to deliver audience and stakeholder outcomes and to achieve commercial and social returns Extensive experience in managing a significant art collection and an understanding of contemporary collection management issues Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and an ability to write compelling proposals and interpretative material that connects art with audiences, as well as represent the Gallery in public forums Demonstrated strategic planning, negotiation and project management skills including well developed analytical skills and problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects Ability to effectively manage, coach, mentor, develop and motivate staff and promote an environment that supports team building, skills development and best practice with demonstrated experience managing diverse multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders, prioritise tasks and achieve work targets within a high pressure environment. The closing date for this position is ?
