We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Architecture – Data and Platforms to lead and grow our architecture practice. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing data-driven, flexible, and cost-effective technology solutions that align with our business strategy. About the Architecture Technology team The Architecture team is part of the Technology business area and is responsible for shaping AGL’s technological landscape and IT infrastructure. We strive to make an impact by providing thought leadership to identify opportunities to take an enterprise approach to transforming a business capability. We take a structured approach to understand business problems, identify synergies across business areas and deliver fit for purpose solutions. What you’ll be doing Lead and grow a talented team of Principal and Solution Architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and innovation. Provide mentorship and empower your team to continuously improve architecture practices. Define and drive the enterprise capability models, technology roadmaps, and strategic plans for AGL’s data platforms, cloud infrastructure, network (OT, Corporate, Telco), and DevOps tools. Establish and maintain architecture frameworks, blueprints, reusable patterns, and governance models. Ensure alignment with both BAU and project delivery processes, supporting waterfall and Agile methodologies. Lead the creation of a cohesive architecture for data and enabling platforms, bringing clarity and focus even in ambiguous environments. Ensure alignment with business units across AGL while encouraging innovation and purposeful experimentation. Act as a trusted advisor to the CIO, GM Architecture, and other executive leaders. Translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and drive strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation. Continuously review and optimise architecture practices, accelerators, and guardrails. Use emerging technologies and industry trends to guide executive decision-making and ensure that AGL remains at the forefront of technological innovation. About you What you’ll bring to the table Proven experience in architecture management or senior enterprise architecture roles, with a deep understanding of platform engineering, data mesh, microservices, and network strategy. Expertise in Telco, Broadcast Media, or Utilities, with hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps tools, and production platforms. Proven experience leading architecture teams and developing strategic roadmaps that drive technology transformation. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing senior leaders and ensuring alignment across the enterprise.
