Laboratory Manager

Job Description :As our Laboratory Manager, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of our site chemistry and microbiological laboratories including overseeing and governing site laboratory compliance.You’ll ensure compliance with Mars standards including both finished goods and raw material and maintaining operational excellence in collaboration with Global Quality & Food Safety , MARS Global Services Regional ab and site laboratory network.You’ll lead a small team of functional experts who maintain daily operations, resolve technical challenges and ensure a robust continuous improvement program aligned to the business strategic direction.Our Mars Petfood Factory has recently undergone a significant investment over the last few years and will continue this journey to drive efficiencies with several large capital investments scheduled. What would be your key responsibilities? Oversee and manage the compliance of the site laboratoriesEnsure that all testing and conformance activities are conducted in accordance with established protocolsand quality standards.Coordinate laboratory team to maintain accurate records and documentation of test results and procedures.Generate and submit regular reports on lab operations, performance metrics, and compliance status to the Quality & Food Safety Manager.Ensure Site Labs operate in compliance with FSSC22000 and within the scope of QMS to support appropriate quality management and conduct technical audits to assure compliance of the Standards.Provide leadership and Q&FS contact on external laboratories across ANZ Petcare.Implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of test results.Tracks the operational performance of the laboratories, driving efficiency and providing support for continual improvement.Collaborate effectively with Operational leadership to align lab operations with departmental goals and objectivesReview results, instigate non conformances and participate in the escalation process as required.Work with the Q&FS Manager to budget for and procure necessary resources.Q&FS contact for all external laboratory LIMPs and Partner with MGS R&D Solutions on external laboratories for ANZ Petcare.Operational continuity technical lab work across both laboratories as required including leave coverage.What are we looking for? Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Microbiology) is preferred.Strong leadership and team management skills.Experience in laboratory operations or in managing laboratory operationsPrior experience in laboratory position and quality control is highly desirable.Knowledge of analytical methodology, manufacturing processes, material specifications, good manufacturing practices, auditing, and HACCP.IT Systems experience (ie SAP, Nexus, LIMS)What can you expect from Mars?
