SESLHD - Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Authorised Practitioner - Visiting Medical Officer (General Practitioner)

Employment Type :  Visiting Medical Officer Position Classification : Visiting Medical Off Remuneration :  - Hours Per Week : 0 Requisition ID : REQ435638 The Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) will provide expert medical assessment and management of people requesting access to Voluntary Assisted Dying under the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 as part of the SESLHD VAD Liaison Service. This role will be a part of a pool of specialists that will fulfil the Coordinating, Consulting and or Administering Practitioner roles within the VAD process. Applicants seeking to participate in the Coordinating or Consulting role must be medical practitioners who have held specialist registration, or general registration and have practised in the medical profession for at least 10 years. Applicants seeking to participate in the Administering Practitioner role must be medical practitioners who have held specialist registration, or general registration and have practised in the medical profession for at least 5 years. Overseas trained specialist with limited or provisional registration are also encouraged to apply. This is an ongoing position contingent on funding which is currently to 30 June 2024. Upon confirmation of funding, this position may become a Quinquennium appointment up to 30 June 2027.  Mandatory training will be required to fulfil these roles and will be supported by SESLHD. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Demonstrated commitment to provision of a high standard of clinical care in the public sector setting. This is a Category A position.
