The Role A unique chance to make a difference in Indigenous Health, this position has exposure to a significant Aboriginal population. You will work closely with another full time and a part time Consultant Surgeon, in addition to a part time Consultant Surgeon based at another location. You will participate in the shared departmental on-call roster Be required to undertake short periods of outreach within the region on a regular basis, providing essential surgical services to remote areas. The Facility As the largest hospital in the region, offers a diverse and challenging case mix. Approximately 25,000 presentations to the ED annually Theatre complex has a Day Procedure Unit and 2 theatres. CT scanning and ultrasound diagnostic imaging services on site, and pathology Anaesthetic services are provided by highly skilled GP anaesthetists who cover the High Dependency Unit, the Maternity Unit and ED Critical Care. The Requirements Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia. Hold relevant qualifications and experience which are recognised by the Medical Board of Australia, including specialist qualifications recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Laparoscopic skills and Gastrointestinal endoscopy competency: colonoscopy and gastroscopy  Fluoroscopy Licence as recognised by the Radiological Council of Western Australia. Demonstrated understanding of indigenous health issues and working within a cross cultural environment. Current C Class Drivers Licence and ability and willingness to undertake regular travel including overnight stays away from home. Experience working in cross-cultural environment.
