Role Purpose Develop and support the ABC’s digital data capabilities that provide data pipelines, aggregation & processing, data visualisation and data distribution services to ABC digital products and platforms. Strengthen data engineering foundations within digital product and platform teams, enable experimentation and underpin the success of leveraging data in ABC digital products. Key Accountabilities Provide technical development skills within the ABC's Digital Product department, to develop secure and high-performance platforms and services. Under broad direction, and in collaboration with colleagues, deliver high quality software development and produce best possible results on code quality, efficiency, system sustainability, scalability, and security within agreed time and budget requirements. Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including technical designs, product specifications, architecture details, support & operation guides, testing instructions and thought processes. Adopt best engineering practices in the industry and share with other team members, to help foster the implementation of best data engineering practices throughout Digital Product teams. As part of a digital product or platform team, continuously strengthen the architectural foundation of the data platform and drive the architectural improvements and best practices for data products.  Ensure separation of concerns and create layers of abstractions and re-usable data components where appropriate. Adopt service-oriented architecture when designing particularly complex systems and apply industry best practices where appropriate. About You Experience in software technologies such as dbt, AWS data services, Datahub, Apache Superset, PowerBI, content management systems, digital media publishing, digital content delivery and integration with APIs & diverse data sources an advantage. Demonstrated experience in modern data analytics tech stack including real user monitoring, tag management, experiments & A/B testing, product feature pilot measurement, data integration and data anomaly detection. Experience in developing complex, secure and high-performance data pipelines at scale. Solid experience in one or more programming languages or frameworks such as Python, Golang, Typescript or Node.js; with ability to write clean, efficient and testable code. Strong relational thinking and SQL skills. Excellent planning and tasks prioritisation skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. The following experiences, while not essential , would be advantageous: Data transformation, storage and query technologies such as Trino, Iceberg, Databricks, Snowplow and Snowflake.
