Our proven project teams readily address complex and multi-disciplinary activities, providing low-risk and cost-effective solutions to the defence force.Learn more about our business .The Opportunity:This position description describes the indicative tasks and responsibilities for the Joint Counter Improvised Explosive Device (JCIED) Acquisition Program Electronic Systems Technician (Technical Officer).The Technical Officer provides hands on technical skills and advice in support of the Materiel Certification (MC) and Introduction into Service (IIS) of capabilities acquired through the CIED Acquisition Program. The Technical Officer has a level of Technical Authority (TA) that permits drafting/authoring, reviewing and approval, of significant and non-significant technical documentation in support of all aspects of systems acquisition, maintainability and sustainment evaluation requirements. The Technical Officer participates in and offers practical advice to Working Groups and meetings as required by the Program Manager and Engineering Supervisor within the JCIED Acquisition Program.Mission and ScopeThe Technical Officer shall provide technical skills and advice including, but not limited to:Technical support to Defence capability acquisition.Hands on technical skills and advice in electronics, tactical and communications engineering and maintenance.Conduct of maintenance and fault diagnosis of project equipment.Assist with Test and Evaluation Trials activities of capabilities being procured and IIS by the JCIED Program.Work with specialist teams on CIED systems.LocationAdelaide, Melbourne or Canberra (Brisbane may be considered). Domestic travel may be required.Rate of effortFull time, 40 hoursResponsibilities Support planning for transition of project capabilities being procured and being IIS.Contribute to project meetings and working groups.Evaluate OEM maintenance requirements supplied with project equipment.Maintain project equipment in accordance with OEM requirements.Assist in the preparation and conduct of project equipment all trials activities (including Test and Evaluation and Validation and Verification of capabilities).Provide technical advice to ILS for the development of project documentationAuthor, review and approve significant and non-significant technical documentation in accordance with the officer’s TAQualifications, Skills and Experience RequiredEssential:Tertiary qualifications in Engineering at the Diploma or higher level. Experience in Engineering in the Defence environment.Qualification in Electronics, Communications or Electronic Systems.
