The Role: The Category Assistant role brings the BIG W Strategy to life by providing the Commercial Leaders, Stakeholders and Suppliers high levels of support whilst maintaining overall data integrity to contribute to maximise sales, profit and customer satisfaction and optimise inventory. This role is a 12 month contract role working full time

This is a very complex category which is split into operating rhythms:

  • Confectionery, Seasonal Food, Food drinks and Snacks, Promotions, Displays, Range Review and Administration
  • Seasonal - more like projects Xmas, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Halloween
  • Support Category Leaders with supplier correspondence and relations to
  • contribute to overall business VOS
  • Support the development and maintenance of the assortment plan & buy plan
  • and the collection of new article information to ensure data integrity
  • Maintain data integrity (include but not limited to create article shells, maintain
  • master data, discontinue products, maintain accurate price, and promotional
  • information) to support the Commercial team and stakeholders to deliver
  • towards business strategy
  • Support Category Leaders with raising, adjusting and maintaining contracts and
  • purchase orders (local only) to ensure accuracy of contracts & orders
  • Build deep knowledge of categories to provide support to Commercial Leaders
  • Role model BIG W Purpose, Values and Ways of Working
  • Develop as a Category Assistant with clear development & succession plan to
  • build trusted relationships within the BIG W business

You’re curious and empathetic, and as a systems thinker you have an eye for the bigger picture. You thrive in ambiguity, and deal with complexity by collaborating with colleagues, listening to customers, testing ideas and continuously learning.

  • 2 - 3 years experience in an Administrative role
  • Experience working on SAP will be highly regarded
  • Retail working experience would be advantageous
