Your Role

As the Assistant Farm Manager / Supervisor , you will play a vital role in supervising the daily operations of our clients organic poultry farm, which comprises 11 sheds, producing circa 11,000 chickens per week.

Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will also be responsible for leading and supervising and mentoring an established team of 8 across a range of farm duties - whilst ensuring animal welfare and farming best practices. Whilst this role is not ‘hands-on’, we are looking for someone that is happy to chip in whenever necessary, when required.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to

  • Monitor day-to-day care and management practices of organic chickens and turkeys.
  • Execute daily farm operations, including feeding, housing, and grazing systems for organic poultry.
  • Supervise and mentor the crew - across tasks such as catching, cleaning, on-farm maintenance, and handling.
  • Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, health & disease prevention.
  • Maintain accurate records for weekly production activities.
  • Assist the Farm Manager with continuous improvement and other operational tasks.

About You

Highly organised and hands-on, you will have proven experience in supervising a farming crew with your excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.

To be considered for the position, you will be able to address the following criteria:

  • 2 years of experience in livestock industry - preferably poultry
  • Knowledge of animal welfare, health and disease prevention practices
  • Proven experience in supervising a farming crew
  • Willingness to learn sustainable and organic farming practices
  • Maintenance experience is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Current driver’s license
  • For bio-security reasons, employees cannot own birds, poultry or pigs._
