About the RoleWe are seeking a Therapeutic Specialist to join our Northern Territory team in Darwin or Alice Springs. The Therapeutic Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the functions within the Intensive Therapeutic Care programs undertaken by Life Without Barriers.As a Therapeutic Specialist you will provide therapeutic support and intervention development for Children & Young People in our care who have backgrounds of complex trauma, abuse and/or neglect, and in some cases physical and/or psychosocial disabilities requiring support. Either position can be based in Darwin or Alice Springs.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide evidence informed advice and recommendations on understanding and minimising negative impacts of trauma, promoting healthy age-appropriate development and building and strengthening skills and competency.Provide evidence informed training and support for carers and staff regarding therapeutic support.Lead implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) principles and practice and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Provide expertise and support to House Managers & Therapeutic Support Workers in the formulation and ongoing management of Therapeutic Care Plans, and to ensure purposeful supports are provided in line with CARE principalsCoordinate preventative strategies to ensure continuity of care and mitigate placement breakdownsAdvocate on behalf of Children & Young People by engaging agencies and organisations to support consistent therapeutic practiceContribute to client matching and intake assessment processes and support the transition of Children & Young People into homesSkills & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work,  Mental Health Nursing or other related discipline. Current registration or eligibility for registration with the professional body relevant to your qualification. Completed, currently completing or agreement to undertake a unit of learning consistent with nationally recognised competency CHCDIS016 - Develop and promote position person-centred behaviour supports. Demonstrated experience in working with children or young people in our of home care who have experienced trauma, abuse and/or neglectAbility to develop and promote positive person-centred behaviour supportsStrong understanding of the impact of trauma and complex behavioursCurrent Driver’s LicenceSuccessful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.BenefitsBased in either Darwin or Alice Springs with flexible hybrid working arrangements.Generous Salary Packaging Benefits – claim up to $15,900 per year, tax free!Monthly RDO
