Reporting to the Director City Services and Living, this newly created position will play a pivotal role in promoting and enhancing the overall health, well-being and social inclusion of the diverse Hume community. Overseeing the strategic planning, development and implementation of leisure, sports and recreation programs, this role will ensure plans and relevant policies align to Council’s community vision and strategic objectives, and effectively planning for future growth. Leading a large team of 300+ employees, this role will manage various sports clubs and facilities across the municipality and lead the creation of diverse and active living programs that effectively cater to various age groups, interests and abilities and ensure access and participation for all community members. To be considered for this role, you will be a highly regarded strategic leader, with significant experience leading large teams to deliver quality sport and leisure activities and services. You bring demonstrated expertise in developing evidence-based strategic plans, programs, and policies in Active Living, with operational management experience in facilities with a high level of community engagement. With sound commercial acumen, including managing a sizable P&L, you have practical experience in the delivery of a broad range of sports and leisure infrastructure projects. With an appreciation for the diversity and different cultures of the Hume community, you will bring innovative and fresh thinking to the portfolio to ensure effective planning for growth and change.
