Principal Data Scientist

Our client is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join a dynamic team of data practitioners to focus on enhancing value and performance throughout the value chain by leveraging data, operational insights, and engineering expertise in performance improvement projects.Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:Provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring high standards of performance and collaboration.Lead and manage analysis projects aimed at maximising value opportunities and improving performance across the value chain.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the clients data community, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.Identify and articulate business requirements to address stakeholder problems effectively.Document, explain, and present analysis solutions clearly to both technical and senior business stakeholders.Work collaboratively with site operations, business subject matter experts, data analytic professionals, and other Value Enhancement team members.Contribute to the continuous improvement of performance through the application of data, operational, and engineering expertise.Necessary Skills & Qualifications:4+ years of experience using Python for data science, within a total of 6+ years in analytics.3+ years of experience working in the mining domain.Ability to thrive in a team environment with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.Dedication to achieving exceptional results with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.Proven experience in providing technical leadership to teams, assisting in problem-solving and optimising analysis processes.Background in the mining, resource industry, or other heavy industries.Expertise in developing performance improvement solutions for business challenges, using data analysis, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques in Python to create business value with a strategic and practical approach.Proficiency with industry-standard analysis tools and methodologies, including data platforms, programming languages, and data analysis technologies.Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders from various domains.Additional valuable skills:Experience in engineering or management consulting.Project management expertise.Experience working in agile teams.Interested?
