Position Information : Ashcroft Public School is a vibrant P-6 school located in Southwest Sydney in the Liverpool Principals Network. The school has an enrolment of 302 students, including 43 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and a diverse population from over 30 different cultural backgrounds.

Ashcroft Public School has a high mobility factor, which is supported through the use of intensive transition programs.

The school is dedicated to providing positive and meaningful parent and community engagement opportunities with its diverse community, as well as rich extra-curricular opportunities for students that further support learning and wellbeing. Ashcroft Public School hosts a Schools as Community Centre program that provides quality Early Intervention programs for families and young children, from birth to 4 years and a preschool which supports our transition to school processes.

Our school has been working on establishing a wellbeing hub Mirrung which supports early intervention, student enrichment programs, family connections and health. Our hub aims to integrate education, social services and health. We value a culture of high expectations relational trust which has strengthened partnerships between school and home.

Ashcroft Public School has strong partnerships with the 2168 Community of Schools and to fostering productive programs and initiatives with its partner high schools.

Our future directions have been defined through deep evaluation and community consultation, including the LLAECG, in order to ensure every student's needs will be strategically supported through our equity funding.

We continue to work on further developing a culture of high expectations, where feedback is a valued tool for continuous development. Our aim is to embed evaluative practices that are regular, responsive and systematic and will drive future direction and school improvement.

Selection Criteria : In addition to the general selection criteria,

Approval to teach special education and/or experience in leading quality teaching and learning for students with Autism, Intellectual Disability who may also present with additional needs such as sensory, challenging behaviour and communication.

Demonstrated ability to lead a culture that values and promotes inclusion and equity for all students.

Demonstrated ability to develop staff capacity to promote learning and wellbeing growth for students with disability through evidence informed practices and fostering a culture of support for all students.

General Selection Criteria :

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
