Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy) Brightstar Resources Limited (ASX:BTR) is an emerging gold development company located in the Laverton and Menzies regions of Western Australia – both internationally renowned mineral provinces. Brightstar Resources require the services of a Senior Safety/Training Coordinator to contribute to the ongoing success and safety of the Second Fortune Gold Project. Second Fortune is an active gold producer located 220km north of Kalgoorlie. The company has recently acquired the Lord Byron assets, 100km from Second Fortune, with plans to restart the open pit and underground in late 2024. The Role The role of the Senior Safety/Training Coordinator is to provide guidance and direction in creating and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors to site. Safe Work Methods and Safe Systems of Work are part of the Mine Safety Management System and compliant with Work Health and Safety Legislative requirements. The Safety Management System documentation provides practical support and advice to Managers, Supervisors, and employees in terms of providing and maintaining a Safe Work Environment and Safe Systems of Work. The Senior Safety/Training Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Mine Safety Management System documentation compliant with legislative requirements. The Senior Safety/Training Coordinator will be split between an Administrative Role (50%) and workplace field interactions (50%). In this role, the successful candidate may be responsible for: - Supervise and support OHS Advisors and Medic Emergency Services Officers. - Provide visible health and safety leadership and presence at the workplace. - Review, maintain and develop Mine Safety Management System documentation. - Review training and emergency response documentation. - Manage data input and extraction from EXCEL spreadsheets. - Assist with health and hygiene monitoring programs. - Coach and upskill personnel on health and safety fundamentals. The Requirements - 5+ years’ experience in a senior OHS role within a FIFO/remote mining environment. - Diploma of Work Health and Safety (Minimum). - Current First Aid Certificate. - WHS Act and Regulations. - Knowledge of SRS. - Approved Codes of Practice, Guidance Materials and mandatory and non-mandatory Australian Standards. - DEMIRS reporting and compliance requirements.
