The People Branch provides strategic and operational advice on people related matters. The HR function is responsible for areas including attraction, retention and recruitment of personnel, capability development, workforce planning, workforce analytics, pay and conditions, WHS and departmental cultural initiatives including diversity and inclusion. The opportunity we have available Payroll Services provides assistance to employees with their pay, conditions of service and salary queries which includes salary progression, salary packaging, payment of allowances, applying and processing all leave types, and work-related expenses. Reporting to a Senior Payroll Officer under limited direction, you will: Accurately process a wide range of salary, leave and entitlement-related transactions, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies and procedures. As required, provide internal clients and managers with general advice and guidance in relation to the submission of leave, completion of employee timesheets, and other employee-related documentation. Assist with processes that ensure taxation, superannuation and payroll deductions are correctly calculated, paid, and reported in accordance with associated guidelines. Undertake salary and/or leave reconciliation tasks, as required. Undertake fortnightly reviews to update employee payroll records and ensure that associated superannuation contributions are correctly administered, paid, and reported. Prepare and send payroll-related correspondence, including emails, to ensure that employees receive accurate and timely advice regarding their entitlements and associated conditions of employment. Maintain the personnel and leave records of employees, in an accurate and timely manner. At all times, provide internal and external clients & agencies with a high level of customer service and support. Who are we looking for? Specific requirements for the role are: Experience working in a team performing payroll related tasks is highly desirable. Experience in, or the ability to quickly learn SAP (SAP ECC6). Strong numerical and analytical skills including an attention to detail and problem-solving ability Excellent organisational and time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to manage competing priorities. Experience in preparing correspondence and reports (including emails and letters) on routine matters.
