We are seeking a Media Manager to provide expert direction and advice in media and public relations to deliver communication strategies that build advocacy and reputational value by enhancing media channels and further engaging critical stakeholders and wide audiences across Victoria through the design, development and launch of broad, research driven media campaigns and industry best practice for our External Affairs department. This is a full time, Maternity Leave replacement role up to 12 months currently based in Doncaster with WFH/Hybrid options available. About the role Reporting to the Senior Media Manager, responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Senior Manager Media in achieving accurate, timely and strategic messaging to the community, and external and senior stakeholders by developing and delivering integrated media plans and campaigns to support significant organisational goals and priorities, and issues mitigation.
  • Work to enhance AV's reputation and authority within the health sector and wider community, by positioning AV as an expert in patient care and state-wide coordination.
  • Consider emerging trends and contributing organisational wide factors to identify potential message challenges or uncertainties when planning, evaluating and actioning media communications or stories.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including procedures, business and change requirements and the development of media communications and training material.
  • Support community engagement priorities and increased community confidence, understanding and expectations of AV through proactive, research-driven media campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively across Communication and Engagement Division and AV's senior leadership team to achieve an integrated approach and optimised impact for all communications, externally and internally.

About you

To be considered for this position you will possess :

  • Tertiary or post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (communication, public relations, journalism) and/or equivalent knowledge or experience.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to influence senior and executive decision-makers and clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to be agile and respond appropriately and professionally to shifting priorities and periods of uncertainty.
  • Proven understanding of importance of language and style to engage target audience.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and issues management capability.
  • Demonstrated leadership and extensive knowledge skills and experience of a range of communication, media liaison, marketing, public relations and event management.
  • Required to be available outside of ordinary working hours to provide advice, support or authoritative direction to other employees or managers involved in dealing with emergency or time critical incidents or issues.
