ABOUT THE ROLE As an Inhouse Legal Counsel, you will work within our Corporate Governance Team. You will provide guidance and advice to our business and depot leaders around employment-related matters, in a legally compliant manner that aligns with company policy.  This role offers a large amount of variety and autonomy. With the flexibility to choose the hours that match your availability and our business operations. With a key focus on compliance and business support; you will be skilled in providing advice and eager to follow up with details to business leaders so they can manage the process. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide general commercial law advice including advice on business transactions, drafting, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts and tender submissions, business/asset acquisitions and disposals Identify and manage legal risks in relation to claims, contracts and operations Internal governance, risk or compliance support and advice to internal stakeholders Liaise with the Group’s external legal advisors and other stakeholders as required Maintain and review relevant policies and procedures that align with legislation, and best practice Provide advice on trade practices (Competition and Consumer) law issues Appropriately managing risk and having regard to commercial and strategic priorities ABOUT YOU: A Bachelor of Laws qualification and be admitted to legal practice in Australia Post-admission legal experience either in private practice or in-house with demonstrable experience Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and self-manage competing workloads Exemplary drafting skills marked by meticulous attention to detail Be dedicated and have strong drafting, advisory and advocacy skills Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Ability to partner across a national level to a diverse group of stakeholders internally and externally Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Self-motivated with the ability to work well within a team and autonomously Experience in transport, logistics or service industry - preferred Experience in management of full legal processes including associated administrative components BENEFITS We appreciate there is more to life than work, we provide a variety of work options to ensure the job gets done; with competitive remuneration and a range of benefits, regardless of your role or location including: Australian family owned and operated business with over 90 years’ experience  Full-time, flexible start/finish times WFH / Hybrid work arrangement Maternity leave contract – 6 months – view to extension Attractive remuneration  Health-fund discounts Discounts at over 100 retailers (including groceries and fuel) Car servicing, parts and accessories discounts – plus new car discounts NEXT STEPS Interested applicants should  APPLY NOW Depending on the role, the recruitment process may vary slightly; this may include a phone interview, face-to-face interview, skills-based assessment, pre-employment medical and of course, an opportunity to meet the team.
