Senior Lawyer, Insurance Advisory

As a Senior Lawyer, your role entails providing high-quality legal and strategic advice with a commercial perspective to support the interests of the Group. Your primary focus will be on the Commercial Insurance business, covering various aspects such as:Drafting Commercial Insurance ProductsInsurance Product DistributionRegulatory ComplianceContract Drafting and Review What you’ll doReporting to the Manager Legal, Insurance Advisory, your responsibilities will include: Provision of legal advice in relation to development and administration of Insurance products (Inc. policy wording and PDS reviews, product development advice, statutory notices and disclosure)Legal advice in respect of the distribution of Insurance products and partnering arrangements (Inc. broker and intermediary arrangements, and strategic partnerships)Act as point of technical escalation for matters in your functional areasIdentify matters which have the potential to impact the Group’s interests and provide expert legal advice to protect these interestsProvide legal advice in respect of regulatory matters involving ASIC, APRA and the ACCCSupport business’ compliance with financial services legislation, privacy legislation and legislation regulating the issue and distribution of financial products What you’ll need Extensive experience drafting or litigating a range of commercial insurance policies including Profin, property and engineering lines - MandatoryTertiary qualifications in Law – MandatoryCurrent Practising Certificate – MandatoryAdmission as a Solicitor or Barrister in any Australian Court – MandatoryRelevant experience in legal advisory work in relation to insurance, distribution and financial servicesExperience in financial services, ideally insurance and/or distribution and adviceDemonstrates a high degree of knowledge of relevant area of law and practice experienceAbility to make effective decisions in a timely manner and to escalate as appropriateHighly developed critical thinking skills, and the ability to complete work in a resourceful, agile and commercial wayDemonstrated Lawyer capability aligned to internal Suncorp Legal Capability Framework What we can offer A range of flexible working and leave options, including 20 weeks paid parental leave, 4 weeks paid secondary carer parental leave and unlimited paid emergency response leaveDiscounts and offers on a range of retail favourite stores as well as banking and insurance productsGive back to our communities with payroll giving, donation matching and paid volunteer leaveInvest in your brighter future with ongoing study support and career development programs; andPrioritise your work/life balance with our robust employee assistance program and dedicated employee council Employee benefits | Suncorp Group
