About the role Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Chief People Officer is responsible for delivering high quality people strategy and people and culture functions and strategies that align to business and community outcomes, and Council's Lead best practice and continuous improvement agenda. This is a multi-faceted and critical leadership position across the organisation, and a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Team.

Through the delivery of strong professional leadership this role will manage the provisions of Organisational Development, HR Services, Industrial Relations, Occupational Health and Safety and Recruitment and champion innovative strategies that establish Glen Eira City Council as a preferred employer and a great place to work.

About you To be successful in this role, you will be a strong team player with emotional intelligence, self-awareness and sound judgement and with proven skills in effectively leading, developing and coordinating culture, development and human resource functions and staff in large and/or complex organisations.

You will be tertiary qualified with Significant relevant portfolio experience at a senior leadership level. As a strategic leader, you will also have a proven ability to lead, influence and deliver on strategic priorities of the Executive and the required business outcomes of this Department. The capacity to engage a range of stakeholders at varying levels of knowledge is critical. Whilst public sector experience is not essential, you will bring and understanding of working with government or related environments and within legislative parameters.
