The Etheridge Shire covers approximately 40,000 square kilometres of Queensland's Gulf-Savannah region in far-north Queensland, approximately 380 kilometres west of Cairns and 360 kilometres east of Karumba. The Shire incorporates the towns of Georgetown, Mt Surprise, Einasleigh and Forsayth. Georgetown is the administrative headquarters of the Council and provides the shire with a clean, safe, modern service hub including facilities such as primary school, health clinic, childcare, golf club, swimming pool complex, and sports ground. Etheridge Shire Council is seeking to employ a Chief Executive Officer to work in partnership with the Elected Members in achieving Council's vision and objectives. You will lead the organisation in the delivery of the Local Government services to the Etheridge community. You will have a passion for living and working in rural Australian communities along with broad practical experience and a strong working knowledge of Local Government including the associated legislation. You will possess effective leadership skills, sound political acumen, strong knowledge of financial management, with the ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively and build productive and respectful relations within the Council and the community. The position is offered under a 5-year performance-based contract, with an attractive remuneration package including a cash salary of $218,669.14.
