About Searoad Ferries

At Searoad Ferries we are passionate about what we do, and proud of the reputation we’ve established during 35 years in the Tourism and Transport Sectors.

A trusted, innovative, and growing Company, Searoad Ferries connects people and places through excellent experiences on and around Victoria’s Port Phillip and Western Port Bay areas.

Our car and passenger ferries provide safe, reliable, efficient travel for nearly one million people each year. Our integrated group of companies provide ferry travel, bus services, tours, as well as food and beverage services.

Victorian owned and operated, Searoad Ferries employs more than 150 people and is a major contributor to the economic development of the regions in which we operate - the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, and Western Port.

Already the greenest and cleanest way to cross Port Phillip Bay, we’re investing in new ways to reduce emissions, create exceptional customer experiences, and new local jobs. We offer a vibrant workplace where we consistently exceed customer expectations and support the local community.

Searoad Ferries is an award-winning Company undergoing an exciting period of change that will help us serve our customers even better. From digital modernisation to the state-of-the-art, sustainable ferry terminals we are building in Queenscliff and Sorrento, now more than ever is a great time to join our team at Searoad Ferries!

Is your spirit animal an Eagle? If so, then read on.

Searoad Ferries is on the hunt for an exceptional people leader not one of those mythical creatures that don’t really exist (aka unicorn). But rather, an ordinary person, with exceptional ability to lead their team and get stuff done, while relentlessly pursuing our vision to be the best ferry company in the world.

In other words we’re searching for an Eagle.

We are seeking someone with a broad view and strong foresight. Someone with vitality who brings a positive energy to their environment. An individual who rises to challenges, steps into new opportunities with a solutions focus and possesses a learner mindset. A coach who takes the time to build up their team members, is collaborative and ethical.

With an exciting journey ahead, Searoad Ferries is growing, and we are looking to strengthen our Executive Leadership Team. If you are an inspiring, experienced Chief Operating Officer, (COO) or General Manager who has demonstrated ability to motivate teams to work together and get things done, then this one-of-a-kind opportunity could be just the ticket.

A strategic thinker and implementer, in this newly created executive role, you will report directly to the CEO, and work closely with the Executive Leadership, and Management Teams to oversee our organisational expansion, ongoing strategic operations, and internal procedures. The COO plays a pivotal role in overall Company success and is responsible for leading and executing excellent standards of operational effectiveness, connecting people and places through excellent experiences.

While driving and supporting operational effectiveness the COO leads the integration of marine and shore-based infrastructure functions for our family of brands — Searoad Ferries, Western Port Ferries, Explore Australia, and Naturaliste Tours.

Located on the Bellarine Peninsula, our breathtaking location in Queenscliff is a popular destination for local, interstate, and international travellers. You will never tire of the sweeping views of the bay while you go about your day playing a key role within a collaborative, supportive team. Never a dull moment, this broad, hands-on role will see you:

  • collaborating with the CEO in setting and driving organisational vision, operational strategy, and workforce planning
  • inspiring and shaping organisational culture through transformational leadership that instils the vision, mission, and values in striving for excellence in operations delivery
  • participating in the ELT to translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organisation-wide goal setting, performance management and annual operations planning
  • reporting to the ELT on status of strategy and plans, highlighting risks and opportunities for growth and sustainability
  • ensuring alignment of structure, systems, and operations to deliver strategy
  • proactively reviewing all facets of the business operations including controls, policies, and procedures
  • creating a culture of change and innovation, enabling continuous growth and improvement
  • ensuring the safe provision of ferry services
