About the role

This is a full-time (38 hours/week) contract opportunity until 30th June 2025 (with possible extension).

Location negotiable, with flexible work-from-home options and a requirement to attend monthly meetings in North Parramatta.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Child Safe Organisation Action Plan for the Communities Directorate. Through project-based work, you will lead priority improvement activities that support the Directorate to fulfill its responsibilities as a Child Safe Organisation. The Safeguarding Specialist will work collaboratively with key business functions, ensuring that projects align with cross-functional priorities and drive organisational impact

About you in the role

You are passionate about child safeguarding and thrive in a role where you can drive meaningful change. You’re highly organised, collaborative, and capable of ensuring that multiple stakeholders are moving in alignment with the project. Your ability to coordinate resources, develop tools, and deliver training will be critical to ensuring that the Child Safe Action Plan is successfully implemented. You’re driven by the desire to make impactful improvements that ensure the safety of children across Uniting’s programs.

  • Lead and manage the delivery of the Child Safe Organisation Action Plan.
  • Create resources, awareness training, and collateral to support Child Safe initiatives.
  • Coordinate and hold stakeholders accountable for their responsibilities within the action plan.
  • Translate and deliver Child Safe actions at both the Directorate and program levels.
  • Drive the implementation of improvement plans, ensuring tangible progress.
  • Develop and map out individual action plans for each program under the Communities wide Action Plan.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or equivalent field.
  • Demonstrated practice leadership and the ability to implement end-to-end projects.
  • Experience with Child Safe Action Plans and/or Standards and Principles is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Collaborative mindset with a solid understanding of safeguarding standards and principles.
