Flagship management opportunity spearheading a reputable cotton and cereal cropping company in Queensland. Our clients are currently seeking a Farming Area Manager to join their team spearheading their cotton and cereal cropping operation situated at St George in South-West Queensland. The overall aggregation comprises of some 2,880 hectares spanning a number of assets located around St George. The farm’s strategic location and operational efficiency aligns strongly with the company’s commitment to Best Management Practice. We are looking for someone with relevant large scale Irrigated Farming experience. Job Description Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and Owners, the Farming Area Manager holds an important leadership position within the business and is responsible for all designated area cropping activities including detailed planning, input and production management, agronomy and reporting. Supported by a dedicated farm team of permanents plus casuals, the Farming Area Manager will drive the culture, efficiency and profitability of the farm. This will require strong team leadership, great time management, logistics, communication and strong execution skills. Key Responsibilities: 1. To possess relevant, large scale irrigated farming and dryland cropping experience. 2. To work in collaboration with the other Farming Area Manager, Chief Operations Officer, Owners & Agronomists actively participate in the planning, preparing, and implementing of annual cropping plans and budgets, covering various activities such as spraying, spreading, paddock preparation, planting, watering, fertilising, and harvest operations. 3. Lead the Farming Operations staff during paddock preparation, planting, irrigation and harvest, including testing, recording and storage. 4. To work closely with the advisors and agronomist to develop agronomic understanding and practices on farm. 5. To report on farm plans, production forecasts, operational progress of infield activities and inventory control. 6. Weekly reporting and maintaining Agworld records on paddock operations, safety measures, and maintenance activities. 7. Manage staff to achieve positive outcomes as well as providing hands on direction. 8. To ensure safe operations across the property through the implementation of the company’s workplace health & safety plan and adhere to company policies and safe work procedures. Candidate Essential Requirements: 1. To have a demonstrated ability to lead and work safely, adopt new practices and technology, further develop skills, and collaborate in a team environment. 2. To possess a good understanding of irrigation systems and the movement of water around flood irrigation systems. 3. To have a keen eye for detail while capturing and recording important data in Agworld. 4. To have a proven background in large-scale cotton crop production and irrigation management. 5. To possess a strong track record of effectively managing and leading teams by implementing your strong leadership communication skills. 6. To bring a sound skill set surrounding machinery repairs and servicing of equipment. 7. To demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation. 8. To hold a current chemical users’ certificate or have the ability to obtain one. 9. To hold a current driver’s licence. 10. To be an Australian citizen. Benefits: 1.
